GENERAL NATURE OF WORK:

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the administrative functions within Public Works and coordinating various aspects of citywide events. Business Analyst is responsible for performing business and systems analysis; identifying design and development of technical specifications and related documentation; identifying areas of efficiencies and insufficiencies; and developing and presenting business process change recommendations and technology recommendations for the department. Employees in this classification also provide direction to internal staff and business partners as it relates to process analysis and requirement gathering for multi-function or highly complex customer solutions. The Business Management Analyst acts as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and recommends business process redesign (department uses appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. Employees in this class must demonstrate analytical skills and an understanding of information technology and business concepts, as well as considerable working knowledge of methodologies and techniques for systems analysis and identifies solutions, business process modeling, requirements gathering, quality assurance, and recommendations for software development; and exercises professional discretion while performing day-to-day activities independently within established guidelines and procedures with minimal supervision.

 

 

Analysis and Improvement of Public Works Operations:
• Conduct thorough analyses of current Public Works processes and procedures.
• Identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
• Collaborate with Public Works managers/supervisors to implement new strategies.
 

Event Management:
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of citywide events.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and logistics for events.
• Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and city officials.
 

Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare regular reports on Public Works operations and event management activities and submit to the City Manager and or representative
• Ensure all activities comply with municipal regulations and policies.


Stakeholder Engagement:
• Liaise with city officials, community leaders, and the public to gather feedback.
• Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
 

Project Management:

• Lead and manage projects within the department or any other projects identified by the City Manager.
• Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Office environment with occasional field visits. Part-time hours with occasional evenings and weekends for events.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in business analysis, project management, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in event management is a plus.
