The City of Sandersville, GA is recruiting for a Finance Director.  The Finance Director is responsible for assisting the City Manager and the leadership team in managing the finances of the City government and advising the City Manager on short and long-range financial decision making.

The day-to-day operations of the City are led by an appointed City Manager, Sharon Eveland, supported by nearly 100 full and part-time employees across nine departments.  In addition to traditional government services the City operates power, sanitation, and water and sewer utilities.  The City of Sandersville operates on a calendar fiscal year (January 1 - December 31).  The approved General Fund budget for FY 24 is $9,431,390.  Including enterprise funds, the City’s total budget is over $55,000,000.

This position will be counted on to independently lead their department and to provide support to the City Manager and the leadership team with any financial related matters. The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completing a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to finance

• Experience sufficient to develop an expertise in public finance in a local government setting

• Government Finance Officer certification is preferred

• Proven ability to work in a team environment

• Experience with SPLOST and financial management of public utilities

 

The hiring range for this position is from $66,000 to $92,000.  The range is currently under a management review.
