POSITION SUMMARY     

Purpose of this classification to perform technical duties pertaining to land disturbance permitting and inspections in compliance with all City, County, State and Federal Codes and Ordinances.  Work is accomplished cooperatively with Planning, Permitting, Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and building inspection staff.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review land disturbance plans for City, County, State and Federal codes and ordinances; record and maintain review comments in Citizen SERV. Interacts and communicates with developers, engineers on plans review comments.
  • Ensures compliance with best management practices (BMPs); performs inspection of land development of commercial and residential developments sites for compliance with applicable erosion control measures.
  • Ensures compliance with engineering standards; performs inspection of land development of commercial and residential developments sites for compliance with approved plans
  • Coordinates the review of submitted land disturbance plans with the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
  • Coordinates the reviews of submitted land disturbance plans with planning and zoning, and other relevant departments.
  • Coordinates the documentation and record keeping of applicable maintenance/performance bonds received from developers or owners:
  • Interprets development code specifications; and reviews plans, specifications and blueprints with contractors, engineers, architects and owners;
  • Interacts with a variety of individuals regarding code compliance; responds to questions, concerns, and interpretations of ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations, and related issues;
  • Consults with others on complex problem situations and provides technical expertise;
  • Provides progress and activity reports to senior management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate;
  • Attends related meetings.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, construction or engineering inspections; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. Must possess GSWCC Level II and Level IB certification or obtain within 6 months of employment. Georgia Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.

  • Experience or background in home building, construction, permitting, property management, or working with city/county REQUIRED
  • Proficient with Microsoft office specifically with Excel and comfortable with tracking and updating spreadsheets

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events.
