Key Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced and varied accounting functions in line with GAAP and GAAS.
• Support all accounting activities, emphasizing advanced accounting, reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
• Conduct periodic operations analysis, recommending enhancements to improve division efficiency.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closings, financial statement preparation, and audit responses
• Perform monthly reconciliations and research discrepancies for balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Provide critical backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll processes

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least four (4) years of accounting experience, with a preference for two (2) years in the public sector/municipal finance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong oral, written, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep knowledge of public agency financial management, GAAP, GAAS, fund accounting, and governmental accounting principles.
• Thorough understanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in financial and operating activities pertaining to your functional assignment.
• Experience with complex financial reports and analyses, including GAAP compliance.
• Demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting, month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Ability to drive positive change through process improvement and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with governmental procedures and regulations.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Tyler Munis or similar.
