Are you a seasoned construction manager or general contractor adept at overseeing complex projects? Chatham County Government is currently seeking an Assistant Director for Facilities Maintenance and Operations, offering a dynamic opportunity to apply your management expertise in leading construction initiatives and ensuring operational efficiency across various County facilities.

 

Examples of Duties:

 

  • Oversee complex construction projects for the Facilities Maintenance and Operations Director.
  • Provide project management support and assist with capital projects involving new construction and large-scale renovations.
  • Ensure construction activities are coordinated and completed within timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor the progress of construction projects and review team processes for quality and efficiency.
  • Manage projects during design and construction phases, attend regular project progress meetings, and work with consultants, contractors, and work crews to resolve problems and initiate appropriate solutions.
  • Approve change orders, review and process changes to the contracted scope of work, inspect the quality of construction work and materials, coordinate final inspections, and facilitate project acceptance.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and prepare executive summaries and reports for presentation to the Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission, or other officials.
  • Oversee security operations of various County facility sites and maintain the highest level of security.
  • Serve as the Director's substitute in their absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, and
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in construction management or general contracting work experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • You must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Certified Construction Managers (CCM), Licensed General Contractors, and Certified Managers of Commercial and/or Government Properties (CMCP) are preferred.
