Assistant Emergency Medical Services Director

Harris County, Georgia, population 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Emergency Medical Services Director. This full-time position, under the direction of the County Manager, is responsible for supervising all of the daily aspects of running an EMS service.

This exempt position is responsible for:

• Directs Shift Supervisors and all field employees in assigned area.
• Ensures maintenance of quality field operations.
• Liaison with and communicates various agencies.
• Performs direct ALS patient care activities.
• Ensures paperwork is 100% reconciled.
• Performs duties as acting Director in Director’s absence.
• Coordinates maintenance of equipment and buildings.
• Provides staff counseling.
• Prepares evaluations and crew reports.
• Ensures 100% closure of exceptions.
• Re-allocates units to maintain response times.
• Completes purchase and supplies orders.

Minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree and more than four years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.  Must possess or have the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.  Must possess or have the ability to readily obtain appropriate state EMS certification.

The starting annual rate of pay is $75,108.80 plus generous benefits including professional development and a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
