Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for a full-time Legal Assistant for the District Attorney’s Office in Harris County. 

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for office operations.  Typical duties include:

  • Answers telephone and greets visitors
  • Perform data entry functions
  • Track open and closed cases
  • Maintain legal files and records
  • Prepare and file case files for forfeitures and Grand Jury
  • Attend court and provide assistance
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Maintain office supplies

A high school diploma or GED and more than three years of related experience is required, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.  Knowledge if office principles and practices, along with court procedures is required. Knowledge GCIC rules and regulations, and possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.

The starting salary is $19.14 per hour, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
