Salary Range:  $62,988.03 - $83,984.04

We are seeking a creative person with a strong background in Web Design with a passion for UX design. You will be responsible for creating websites/webpages that will enhance the customers experience with the Department of City Planning and work closely with department leadership and City’s IT department to determine website strategy, design, and functionality to satisfy customer and industry standards. You will participate in meetings with other marketing and communications personnel including creative professionals, urban planners, and department leaders to go over potential website designs, and user experience features.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the day-to-day updates and ongoing upgrades to department’s website.
  • Works with COA AIM department to assess new design requirements. Manages and monitors server performance.
  • Uploading and updating web pages.
  • Creates designs, concepts, and sample graphic layouts. Prepare draft designs, wireframes, and/or storyboards for projects. Assemble final digital layouts to prepare proofs for printer or online publication.
  • Maintains DCP’s YouTube channel; provides support for publication and streaming on that platform.
  • Reviews final layouts for accuracy and creativity and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Confers with Marketing and Communications team and other department Offices to discuss and determine designs.
  • Creates and upkeeps documentation plans and production schedules.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet firm deadlines.
  • Stays current on industry standards and digital media new products and services.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with design software.
  • Understanding of UX/UI (user experience/user interface) design.
  • Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization).
  • Good visual design sense.
  • Experience in responding well to clients’ design requests.
  • Keep up to date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Effectively evaluate and manage time, resources, and deadlines to produce desired products both individually and as part of a team.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical equivalent degree in Computer Science, web design, software development, or a similar field
  • At least five years’ relevant and demonstrable work experience.
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, and HTML.
  • A portfolio or work sample is required. May include screenshots from websites developed, or a digital presentation of sites. Should demonstrate a range of sites.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Marketing background and Graphics Arts experience a plus.
  • Seven (7) years, post educational experience.
