PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR/ CITY ENGINEER

JOB SCOPE:
This position plans, organizes, and directs the functions of the Public Works Department. Work involves long range and current planning, directing and supervising personnel, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects involving engineering, public works and stormwater divisions, and the completion of the annual budget for the Departments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience providing skill and knowledge for successful job performance is required. Typical qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, public administration, or related engineering field required or completion of an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)Program.
• Four (4) years as a senior level Civil Engineer, and at least four (4) years of progressively responsible management experience position, or any equivalent combination ofeducation, training and experience.
• Must possess a Georgia Professional Engineer License (PE) or be able to obtain within oneyear of hire date.
• Engineer in Training (EIT)/ Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required.
• Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
• CDL preferred.
• Must be available for emergency call-in on weekends, nights, and holidays.

The Public Works Director/ City Engineer starting pay ranger will be $110,000 to $125,000 based upon the chosen candidate’s qualifications and experience. The City of Clarkston also offers an attractive benefits package, including health benefits, retirement plans, and paid leave.
