This position will be responsible for Windows Server administration as well as PC Support in a MS Windows environment. This position reports directly to our Sr. Systems Administrator. In this position the chosen candidate will work with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMWare, and other server-based technology currently in use by the County. Additionally, the administrator will be an active resource within our Desktop Support team and will oversee that group of 3 technicians. The desktop support team performs new hardware and software deployments, break/fix issues within the computing environment, supports printers, scanners and other technology devices. This position requires not only technical expertise but the ability to interact well with people with various professional backgrounds and job requirements.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Active Directory administration
  • Assisting with Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Supervising a team of Desktop Support technicians
  • Developing and implementing processes and procedures necessary to provide a centralized support center/helpdesk
  • Providing advanced level support of desktop support issues and events
  • Performing network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems
  • Installing, upgrading, and configuring network printing, directory structures, rights security, and software on file servers
  • Responding to the needs and questions of users concerning their access of resources on the network
  • Performing backups and documenting data assets and restoration methods as required
  • Providing network support for the new file/print/application servers
  • Recommending and developing programs for training users in the use of personal computers, common productivity applications and basic networking
  • Establishing network users, user environments and network directories
  • Performing other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience as a Windows Systems Administrator and as a Desktop Support professional or related.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability and willingness to drive a county vehicle

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Related technical certifications are a plus (MCSE, A+, Net+, MOUS/MOS)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Knowledge of Windows XP/7/8 environments
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 environments.
  • Advanced level skills supporting desktops, laptops and current Microsoft software technologies
  • Experience creating and administering system accounts with Active Directory
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange administration
  • Knowledge and experience with various anti-virus and anti-spyware tools and procedures for virus and malware recovery
  • Experience tracking time and  task via CRM System
  • Ability to describe and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Prior experience managing or working as a part of a medium to high volume technical helpdesk
  • Ability to manage time and the productivity of a small team
  • Knowledge of the operation, repair, uses and capabilities of personal computers, peripheral equipment, and wide and local area networks
  • Ability to instruct others in the operation of computer hardware and software
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents ranging from correspondence to policies and procedures to technical documents
  • Ability to deal with a variety of factors and situations and to solve practical problems
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with co-workers and other employees
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

 

 

 

Salary: $67,000 – 70,000 annually plus full benefits package
