Deputy Director of Engineering

Purpose: Oversee projects related to the construction and maintenance of County infrastructure, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and traffic signals, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management: Supervise and evaluate engineering staff, handle employee issues, and manage training and performance appraisals.
  • Project Oversight: Coordinate and inspect daily work activities; ensure adherence to safety regulations and engineering standards.
  • Consultation: Collaborate with County officials to address operations and project challenges, providing recommendations and guidance.
  • Planning: Develop and implement long- and short-term goals for departmental operations and transportation planning.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget.
  • Traffic Studies: Conduct studies and implement operational improvements for traffic management.
  • Technical Support: Provide assistance to engineers and commissioners; address public inquiries and complaints.
  • Administrative Duties: Prepare reports and maintain accurate data records.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum six years of progressive experience in civil engineering, project management, and supervision.
  • Licensure: Valid Georgia driver’s license required.

Salary Information: $100,297.00 - $150,000.00 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Notes: This is an at-will position appointed by the County Manager and is not covered by Civil Service.
