ENTRY SALARY: $19.02 per hour, plus benefits
JOB SUMMARY: This position assists in the maintenance and repair of county buildings. Performs preventive and responsive maintenance on county buildings; inspects buildings to determine maintenance and repair needs. Assists with developing and training less experienced personnel. Performs scheduled maintenance on all county buildings and related equipment. Maintains electrical systems by inspecting, repairing, and replacing wiring, light bulbs, ballast, switches, receptacles, and electrical controls. Maintains plumbing systems by inspecting, repairing or replacing restroom fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems; unclogs blocked pipes. Troubleshoots repairs, and replaces transformers up to 600 volts. Builds and installs cabinets and furniture. Maintains flooring by cleaning, stripping, waxing, shampooing, and completing repairs. Paints interior and exterior surfaces. Installs and repairs wallpaper. Grades, builds form boards, and pours and finishes concrete. Installs water service lines from meter to building. Installs waste, water, and gas piping in new construction and remodels. Installs wiring electrical service from meter to building in new construction and remodels. Installs electrical panels and wiring for outlets, lights, ceiling fans, and fixtures in new construction and remodels. Installs and maintain low voltage wiring devices and equipment, access control systems, CCTV, IP cameras, and phone and data lines. Installs brick/block masonry for new construction and remodels. Installs and finish drywall in new construction and remodels. Installs wood and metal framing and finish carpentry for new construction and remodels. Installs siding, cornice, windows, and doors for new construction and remodels. Installs roofing system shingle/metal for new construction and remodels. Maintains HVAC Systems by changing filters and cleaning indoor and outdoor coils. Assists with the installation of new HVAC equipment and ductwork. Installs flooring, LVT, carpet, ceramic tiles, and epoxy for new construction and remodels. Maintains existing roofing system by inspection and repair. Installs and repairs acoustical ceiling tile systems for new construction and remodels. Performs related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to three years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
