Job Title: General Manager, Conference Center and Exhibition Hall

Location: Morrow Conference Center and Exhibition Hall, 1065 Ring Road, Morrow, GA., 30260

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: City Manager

Job Summary: The Morrow Conference Center and Exhibition Hall is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee all aspects of operations, including event planning, sales, marketing, and facility management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large-scale conference centers or exhibition halls, with a strong focus on customer service, team leadership, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of the conference center and exhibition hall, ensuring all events run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Work closely with clients to plan and execute events, including conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, and other large gatherings.
  • Sales and Marketing: Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones. This includes networking, attending industry events, and leveraging social media and other marketing channels.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability. This includes negotiating agreements, managing expenses, and maximizing revenue opportunities.  The manager will work with the City Manager and City Council on budgeting for the facility annually.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of event coordinators, sales staff, and support personnel. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing client needs and resolving any issues that arise promptly and professionally.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, ensuring it meets all safety and regulatory standards. Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategies to enhance the center’s reputation and market position. This includes identifying new business opportunities and staying abreast of industry trends.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing conference centers, exhibition halls, or similar facilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful sales and marketing strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or similar certification.
  • Experience with large-scale event planning and execution.

 

Classification:      Full Time, Exempt

Rate of Pay:         Depending on Qualifications
