POSITION SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the Assistant to the City Manager or designee, serves as general receptionist for the City of Stonecrest. Greets visitors and department clients to City Hall; operates telephone system for the receiving and routing of calls; performs typing, mail distribution, copying, and other clerical duties, primarily routine in nature.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as general receptionist, receiving visitors and directing to appropriate individuals. Monitors schedules of employees and answers nontechnical questions.
  • Receives, screens, and routes incoming calls, taking messages and providing general information as needed, places outgoing calls and interoffice calls on request.  
  • Maintains phone system for system failure.
  • Handles all incoming mail or business correspondence coming into City Hall. Routes correspondences to appropriate department, office, or employee.
  • Creates mailing labels and mails pertinent information to city clients and customers, as directed.
  • Performs routine clerical tasks for the various departments when needed. Types routine correspondence, reports, and other materials of non-complex and routine nature.
  • Operates a variety of standard office equipment to include phone system, typewriter, calculator, postage meter, and photocopier.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Consults with others on complex problem situations and provides technical expertise.
  • Provides progress and activity reports to senior management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires high school education and previous receptionist/clerk/typist experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events.
