Hiring Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sergeant -A minimum of three years related experience required, not to include the field training process
  • Possess GA Driver’s License (or be able to obtain one)
  • Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia and/or academy admittance to pursuant to Georgia Law
  • Pass:
    • Physical Exam
    • Psychological Exam
    • Polygraph Exam
    • Background Investigation
    • Criminal History
    • Drivers History

BENEFITS:

  • Pay Range for Sergeant - $20.49 - $28.69 (based on years of experience)
  • Shift differential pay $2.00 more per hour for night shift
  • Sign-on bonus:
    • Certified officers $1,500 with a two-year contract after FTO
  • Retirement – with only a 2% contribution required, fully vested after 5 yrs
  • Insurance – City pays 85% of employee and 50% of family coverage
  • POAB – City pays 100%
  • Deferred Comp. (401\457) – after 1 year City matches up to 3%
  • Vacation buyback at end of year up to 1 week (43hrs)
  • 14 Holidays (additional Holiday pay)
  • Uniforms – (Mandate and Patrol) Provided
  • Taser, OC, Asp, Newer Glock 22 (Gen 4)
  • In car camera, body cam MDT, Radar ECT
  • Take home car provided (within 30 mile radius of City or unless approved by Chief)
