The Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking two (2) School Resource Officers. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ prior experience as a P.O.S.T. certified Law Enforcement Officer. The Sheriff’s Office is searching for a candidate(s) that are ready to work with a stellar group of educators and students in the school system. These positions are provided specialized training along with customized schedules. Position open until filled.

Applicants with previous SRO experience will have a negotiable salary based on Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. All necessary equipment supplied by the Sheriff’s Office to include Take Home Car program within Ben Hill County, as well as comprehensive insurance coverage and benefits.

The School Resource Officer supports and facilitates the educational process within the Ben Hill Public School System by providing a safe and secure environment through building and establishing meaningful relationships with students and staff and proactively interacting with the school community to ensure the enforcement of all laws, preservation of public order, protection of life and the prevention, detection, or investigation of crime. Works effectively with students, parents, school personnel and community agencies to support teaching and learning in the schools and patrol district property to protect students, staff and visitors from physical harm and prevent loss to district property resulting from criminal activity.

These positions require a candidate that is well versed in not only best practices and procedures for law enforcement but an ability to communicate with all stakeholders in a positive and professional manner.
