JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting the Judicial Finance Officer and Grants Administrator with financial accounting and reporting functions of assigned judicial programs. The Judicial Finance Assistant will be a Finance professional who will be responsible for daily administrative and Finance duties within the department. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of government accounting and/or fund accounting, chart of accounts, journal entries, debits and credits, and be able to assist with preparing budgets and financial reports, managing accounting records, and processing AR and AP.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with the preparation and management of operating budgets for both the general fund and grant fund budgets.
- Performs financial duties related to accounts receivable (AR) including monitoring bank accounts for ACH deposits, credit card payments, process weekly deposits, and post entries to the General Ledger.
- Performs financial duties related to accounts payable (AP) including entering invoices into the accounting system, ensuring required approval and documentation is on file, and issuing checks.
- Analyze financial data and assist with audits and review.
- Assist with debits and credits along with journal entries to update the General Ledger.
- Update financial spreadsheets and reports with the latest available data.
- Assist with timesheets and payroll biweekly.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Judicial Finance Officer assigns work in terms of general instruction and reviews completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the results.
GUIDELINES
State and federal grant guidelines, generally accepted accounting principles, and county and court policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of varied clerical and accounting duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to assist with the accounting functions for assigned court programs. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of court operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or 2-3 years of relative training in finance/accounting with working knowledge of government accounting and/or fund accounting, chart of accounts, due to/due from, journal entries, debits, and credits is preferred.
