DEPUTY DIRECTOR, PARKS & RECREATION
Salary Grade: 28 FLSA: Exempt
Pay Range: ($106,856 - $139,448 - $172,039)
Essential Functions:

Provides leadership and oversight for parks planning, land acquisition, programs, capital development, and marketing for department attends meetings with key personnel regarding parks projects, programs, and major internal and external events within the parks system; assists in development of annual budget, goals, objectives, policy, and procedures that govern department's operation; and reviews daily implementation of budget.
Collaborates with other departments and non-County agencies in delivery of parks and leisure services: meets and communicates with Facilities, Community Development, and Purchasing Departments, as well as external agencies such as Boys and Girls Clubs; reviews proposals for potential partnerships and filming in parks; resolves use of areas conflicts and maintenance issues; develops and maintains collaborative and productive relationships with elected and appointed officials, senior management, and community leaders; meets with BOC members and community leaders regarding parks projects within their districts; addresses citizen complaints; and develops resolutions with a customer service focus.
Monitors and examines trends, HR policy, federal, state, and local regulations to improve service and management of parks system; research professional journals and online sources; communicates with fellow professionals nationally; attends conferences, workshops, and seminars; and serves in absence of Director as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation or a related field required; eight years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation administration, with three years of management experience for a comparably sized organization or as a deputy director for a smaller organization; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
