GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

This classification conducts duties related to managing a court calendar for an assigned Judge within the City of South Fulton Court System.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

· Manage assigned judge’s court calendar, including schedule dates and times for hearings, motions, and trials.

· Provide information to attorneys and other concerned parties regarding cases on the court calendar.

· Act as a liaison between departments and the assigned Judge as required.

· Monitor and track cases on the court calendar and prepare reports related to assigned caseload.

· Plan and schedule assigned all court calendars for non-jury trials, Motion Hearings, and First Appearance calendars.

· Respond to all inquiries, including notifying litigants and attorneys regarding dates and times of court cases.

· Oversee managerial responsibilities of the office.

· Delegate cases and general tasks to the clerk staff.

· Schedule court hearings and caseloads.

· Conduct various duties in the courtroom, such as coordinating paperwork, recording court hearings, and providing technical guidance and information to attorneys and staff as required.

· Update criminal background information, reports, and dispositions on the computer, and other criminal court systems as required.

· Research and respond to the assigned judge's requests, including preparing appropriate correspondence related to assigned court cases.

· Check the status of inmates and prepare orders for the Jail about court appearances.

· Process various documentation associated with department/division operations within designated timeframes and per established procedures.

· Receive and review documentation, including discovery motions, traffic reports, warrants, and calendars.

· Prepare bindovers for State Court and Superior Court.

· Prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including court orders and other documents, for the judge’s review and official signature.

· Compile data for processing for use in preparation of department reports.

· Maintain computerized and/or hardcopy records.

· Report to court administrator.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

· Bachelor’s degree is required.

· Three (3) years of experience in case management or court-related experience in Municipal Court.

· Possess Affirmation as a Sworn Deputy Clerk of Court.

· A valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history is required.

· GCIC certification is preferred.

· At least three years of experience with CourtWare.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED

Physical Requirements:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
