Butts County is seeking to fill the position of Fire Marshall.  The Fire Marshal plays a critical role in planning, directing, and enforcing fire safety measures to prevent loss of life and property.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Fire Marshall is responsible for overseeing fire prevention, inspection, and investigation activities within Butts County. This role ensures compliance with fire codes, laws, and regulations, educates the public on fire safety, and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance community safety. The Fire Marshal plays a critical role in planning, directing, and enforcing fire safety measures to prevent loss of life and property. A complete job description is available upon request. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years in fire service or fire inspection/enforcement. State Certified Fire Investigator (CFI). Fire Inspector I and II certifications (or ability to obtain Fire Inspector II within 18 months from appointment). Hazardous Materials Awareness or Operations certification. Georgia POST mandated peace officer certification or ability to obtain within 24 months from appointment.
