This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the City’s Finance Department and assisting with the City’s long range financial planning.
Oversee all activities of the Accounting, Budgeting, Purchasing, and Customer Service divisions
Oversee the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
Assist departments in the management of approved funds.
Track capital project expenditures.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls.
Routinely review and update business processes.
Serve as point of contact for external auditors.
Oversee all Technology projects and serve as liaison between City of Valdosta and IT vendor.
Coach and develop Finance staff.
Performs related duties.
The work consists of varied management, accounting, and supervisory duties. Strict regulations and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to manage the city’s financial services functions. Successful performance ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of those functions.
