Position Overview

The City of Blythe is seeking an experienced and visionary law enforcemetn professional to serve as our next Chief of Police. The Fieldwork to Administrative duties is an approximate 65/35% split. This position offers a unique opportunity for retired Law Enforcemet Command Staff Executive looking to continu their career in a slower paced, yet impactful role. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and operations of the Blyte Police Department
  • Ensure the protection and security of the City of Blythe
  • Develp and manage the departmen's budget
  • Recruit, train, and lead police officers
  • Collaborate with nearby law enforcement agencies and prosecutor's offices 
  • Engage with the community and attend City events 
  • Work with and under the direction of Mayor and City Council
  • Prepare and present reports to the City Council
  • Maintain all necessary certifications and stay current with law enforcement best practices

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven leadership experience in law enforcement, preferably at the command staff level
  • Strong ability to rcruit and mentor officers
  • Excellent communication and community engagement skills 
  • Innovative approach to small-town policing
  • Desire to serve in a leadership role for another 5-7 years
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and Georgia radar certification

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary Rand: $45,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with experience) Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and 401K plan
