Sumter Local Government Consulting is assisting the City of Fayetteville, GA to recruit a Communications Director. The Communications Director reports to the City Manager and serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, supporting the storytelling and communications functions of the City. This is a new Department for the City and the Director will be responsible for developing a comprehensive communications strategy and building a team to execute on the plan.
The City of Fayetteville is in Fayette County, GA and is located thirty miles south of Atlanta.
The City is anchored by a historic and vibrant downtown with successful retail and restaurants. The community is fast growing and is developing diverse housing, is a part of the successful Fayette County School District and is a safe and inviting place for families. Fayetteville is an engaged community, providing every amenity you would expect from a premier community in metro Atlanta. In addition, the City is home to Trilith, a mixed used development for the film and creative industries. This unprecedented community features filmmaking studios, homes, shopping and dining, trails and parks. Recently, the City was also selected as the site for the United States National Soccer Training Center.
The City has over 180 employees across 10 departments. The FY 2025 General Fund budget is over $27M and this full-service city provides its residents with a full slate of traditional government services.

The hiring range for this position is from $125,000 - $135,000.
