EMA Director (Part-Time)
Job Summary: This position is responsible for developing and directing the County’s emergency preparedness and response.
Major Duties: develops, maintains, and reviews emergency plans for the county including plans for school safety, restoration of power, severe weather, local emergency operations plans and hazard mitigation plans; prepares reports on county emergency management; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations; oversees training exercises for emergency preparedness; coordinates county response to emergencies; coordinates activities with State and Federal resources; supervises search and rescue squad operations; develops mutual aid agreements with neighboring counties; develops and monitors department budget; oversees maintenance and usage of early warning system; Conducts education outreach events to area residents and schools; attends regular continuing education trainings; performs related duties.
Knowledge required: Local, state and federal laws; emergency response policies and procedures; emergency preparedness standards and practices; budgetary and financial management practices; computers and job-related software.
Skills required: Analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions; preparation of clear and precise administrative reports; oral and written communications; interpersonal relations.
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree required; more than five years of related experience; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicles or equipment operated; completion of Certified Emergency Manager from State of Georgia within two years.
