**Entry level pay is set for recruit school, however upon completion of Firefighter Certification and AEMT Certification, recruits are raised to a Firefighter/AEMT 2 level.**
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of emergency operations to protect lives and property, including but not limited to fire suppression, search and rescue, emergency medical care, prevention while assuring that the station and equipment is ready at all times to respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to emergency calls including but not limited to fire suppression, salvage, overhaul, search and rescue, and pre-hospital emergency medical care, implementing actions necessary to save lives and property, assists Fire Marshal’s office in searching for evidence at suspicious fire scenes. Follows established safety procedures to achieve maximum benefits with the least risk of injury to firefighters or the public.
Maintains fire/emergency medical equipment and apparatus, assures that all equipment is functioning properly, checks communication equipment each morning, and reports all equipment malfunctions or missing supplies immediately to the officer in charge.
Conducts triage of multiple casualty incidents, determines severity of injuries, immobilizes patients, provided emergency medical care, transports patients to appropriate health care facility.
Assists in pre-fire planning, completes department forms and reports, and assists in instructing fire safety, prevention, and emergency medical care programs to the public.
Keeps station grounds clean and neat, cuts grass, paints where needed, cleans and maintains fire stations.
Learns the geography, roads, alternative routes, fire hydrant locations, and hospitals within the jurisdiction.
Participates in continuing education, training, and drills to maintain certifications.
Maintains health and physical strength required to complete job responsibilities.
Completes all necessary forms and check sheets for department vehicles and equipment.
May function as a relief driver.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
When assigned as Field Training Program (FTP) Personnel
Must have passed the FTP Training Course.
Must attend regularly scheduled FTP meetings.
Shall conduct training to meet the needs and requirements of Hall County Fire Services and assigned personnel, individuals or battalion wide, for development careers and maintaining basic skills and knowledge.
Shall participate in regularly scheduled training programs for the purposes of maintaining basic skills and knowledge and career development as a Field Training Officer (FTO).
Will work together with the Training and Professional Development Chief and EMS Coordinator in the assessment of identified deficiencies with personnel and formulate the most efficient means possible to address these needs.
Orient, mentor, and evaluate students and provisional Paramedics and AEMT’s to the policies, procedures, and equipment specific to Hall County Fire Services.
Read/review patient care reports of peers as part of the CQI process.
Review with each student/employee the knowledge, skills, and personal behaviors/attitudes required of an entry-level practitioner.
Assist in the development and implementation of new and/or remedial training programs.
Be motivated to teach, facilitate learning and ensure the provisional employee acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful Hall County employee.
Serve as a mentor, role model, and educational resource for fellow employees.
Provide the student/employee with feedback and evaluation regarding his/her clinical performance related to the objectives for an entry-level practitioner.
Document all performance evaluations and provide the student/employee with summative observations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
24 months experience as a firefighter I or EMT I with the jurisdiction’s fire department.
(FTP Only) – Pass FTP Training Course
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
GA. Basic Firefighter certification
First Class Firefighter certification
NPQ Firefighter II
NREMT-Intermediate
Valid class B driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
Must meet all in-house testing requirements
(FTP Only) – AEMT FTO must receive BLS Instructor Certification within 1 year of assignment
Paramedic FTO must receive ACLS Instructor Certification within 1 year of assignment
