This position is responsible for business tax office functions, customer service and providing administrative support to the office. Qualified applicants must be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, have strong customer service skills, be able to multi-task / prioritize, and have excellent administrative skills. JOB SUMMARY
This position provides administrative support for county human resources, finance, and Business Tax Office functions.
MAJOR DUTIES
Answers telephone and greets visitors; takes messages, directs calls, and provides information to callers.
Composes and types correspondence, memoranda, and reports.
Balances and processes funds from county departments; prepares deposits for all county revenue;
Administers occupational tax, host licensing and renewal operations; receives and processes applications; issues licenses; maintains records.
Administers the alcohol licensing process; provides information to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Manages the destruction of documents in compliance with records retention guidelines.
Enters data related to hotel/motel tax collection, alcohol excise tax collection, and other data into appropriate accounts.
Provide administrative support to the Assistant County Manager, Human Resources, and Finance.
Manages the postage machine and maintains office supply inventory.
Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of modern office policies and procedures.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Knowledge of research and report preparation principles.
Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The County Clerk and Human Resources Director or the Finance Director assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include county and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied administrative and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for office operations. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a variety of county operations.

Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, elected and appointed officials, representatives from other organizations, business representatives, bankers, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
