JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, develops, implements, and manages a maintenance operation plan for assigned facilities and parks. Supervises maintenance staff to ensure routine maintenance, issues, and projects are being addressed and completed in a favorable manner and in compliance with health, safety and other applicable standards.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes schedules, manages, and supervises maintenance operations for assigned facilities and events.
Reports and documents complex maintenance needs, safety issues, and incidents.
Assists with the planning and development of specified projects and continuity planning.
Prepares and assigns work orders.
Estimates costs for repairs and obtains quotes for requisitions.
Schedules, performs, manages, and supervises maintenance at assigned parks and leisure facilities, athletic fields and courts, pavilions, parks, and other areas as assigned.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates the work and behavior of assigned maintenance staff.
Assists in developing and administering a budget as related to vehicles, equipment, grounds, buildings, and projects.
Assists in developing a system for storing tools, supplies, and materials to aid inventory.
Operates, maintains records, and performs maintenance on light to medium construction equipment.
Performs general maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
Cleans parks and facilities including sweeping and mopping floors, collecting and removing trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
Maintains grounds, playing fields, and recreational areas by dragging athletic fields, mowing grass, edging, weed eating, adding needed material, removing trash, cleaning dugouts, trimming/cutting trees or bushes, maintaining bullpens, ensuring cleanliness in restrooms, and ensuring all fields are lined for recreational activities and games.
Assists in the construction and development of parks grounds and recreational facilities by operating equipment, hauling material, clearing trees and brush, building new amenities, maintaining fencing, and other duties as assigned.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Performs all other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Two years carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or construction experience.
Two years turf management and/or athletic field maintenance experience.
One year supervisory experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated herein.
Licenses and Certifications:
Class A Commercial Driver’s License, a temporary CDL, or the ability to obtain a CDL with six months of employment and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Certified Playground Safety Inspector (preferred)
Pesticide Applicator’s License (preferred)
Turfgrass Management Certificate (preferred)
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, incumbents will be subject to random drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of traffic rules and safety precautions.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in field and turf care at athletics fields and facilities.
Knowledge of athletic field setup for needed sports and recreational activities.
Skill in the operation of light, medium, and occasionally heavy sized construction equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in field and turf care at athletics fields and facilities.
Computer operating skills
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform skilled repairs, maintenance tasks, and construction associated with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance and upkeep.
Ability to individually and collectively motivate assigned staff.
Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public.
Ability to perform calculations.
ADA Minimum Requirements:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in strenuous and routine work which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate to heavy weight (25-100) pounds. Duties require the ability to operate a motor vehicle, personal computer, and various hand tools.
Sensory Ability: Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather. Duties may involve exposure to substances that require special handling.
