JOB SUMMARY
This position performs technical duties in support of the property appraisal process.
MAJOR DUTIES
Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance related to the property appraisal process.
Assists customers with homestead exemptions, combination requests, change of address requests, real property returns, and appeals.
Works with applicants and filers to resolve discrepancies, locate missing data, and verify information.
Reviews and processes applications to determine compliance with requirements.
Compiles and maintains related files and records.
Generates a variety of correspondence to communicate information to taxpayers.
Receives payments for copies and maps.
Processes daily mail; stamps mail and enters into log book.
Corrects data as instructed by the Chief Appraiser.
Performs related duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Chief Appraiser assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include department and county policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related technical duties. Strict guidelines and the need for accuracy contribute to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for the appraisal process. Successful performance helps ensure the accuracy and completeness of data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
