Augusta, Georgia Government is searching for a forward-thinking Communications Manager to lead the city’s communication efforts, ensuring clear, transparent, and effective messaging. Under the direction of the County Administrator, the Communications Manager will develop and implement strategic communication plans, maintain proactive media relations, and oversee public engagement initiatives that align with Augusta’s overall mission and goals. This position is responsible for coordinating high-profile public information campaigns, legislative communications, and crisis response efforts to ensure accurate and timely information is shared with the public.

The chosen candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Additionally, candidates must have at least five (5) years of progressive experience in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or business/public administration. The Communications Manager will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that align with Augusta’s strategic and operational objectives. This includes developing marketing materials, managing digital platforms, overseeing public outreach efforts, and ensuring consistency in the city’s branding and messaging. This position requires expertise in media relations, digital communications, content creation, and crisis communications. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and adept at leveraging multiple communication tools to maximize public engagement and government transparency. Augusta, Georgia Government offers a competitive salary range of $62,636.00 - $93,954.00, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
