REPORTS TO: Administrator/Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Executive
CLASSIFICATION: Regular Non-Merit - Serves at the discretion of the Department Director
PAY GRADE: 121 or 122; depending on qualifications
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to perform administrative/supervisory functions associated with coordinating and managing Public Utilities projects. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: coordinating and supervising section personnel and activities as assigned, coordinating and reviewing engineering projects or activities, ensuring these activities are performed in accordance with applicable codes, and performing additional tasks as required.

Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, subject to call back 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Night meetings and weekend work may be required.  

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Emergency Position
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

 

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

ENGINEER II ($62,522):
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering,  Design Engineering, or related discipline with two years of experience in a related field required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
 
Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is required.
 

Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
 
Certification as a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1A preferred.

ENGINEER III ($65,648):
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering,  Design Engineering, or related discipline with four years of experience in a related field required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Professional Engineer (PE) is required.

Two years of supervisory experience is required.

Certification as a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1A required within 6 months.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
