Job Announcement:

The City of Sandersville, Georgia seeks applicants for the position of Electric Director. Sandersville is located in middle Georgia, centrally located between Macon and Augusta, and Atlanta and Savannah. It is the county seat of Washington County with a population in excess of 5,000. The city strives for a smalltown atmosphere with a focus on continuous improvement. We seek candidates who are flexible, well-organized, creative, inquisitive, resourceful, detail-oriented, ethical, and collaborative. The ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment while maintaining quality work products is essential for success in this position. The Candidate will have experience planning, directing, and supervising personnel, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects, and the completion of the annual budget for the Department.

The Position:

The Electric Director is responsible for directing the operations and management of the city’s electric distribution system. The Cities serves approximately 5,000 customers, utilizing 8 substations with a 200 Mw system demand. The City operates approximately 12 miles of distribution at both 12kv and 25kv. The Director is the administrative head of the department and his/her duties include preparing budgets, overseeing purchasing and spending for the department and managing the personnel assigned to this function.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Ten years of progressive utility experience is required, with experience in all areas of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Applicants should provide evidence of leadership in managing change.
  • Possess a strong ethical compass, an ability to communicate vision and provide a safe workplace as well as the ability to motivate and develop the employees in the electric utility department.
  •  Core skills include; budget creation and budget management, AMI/AMR systems, service delivery and restoration, communication skills (both oral and written), excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service
  •  A strong commitment to contributing to the City’s quality of life and prosperity

Qualifications:

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in a course of study or related field. Significant directly related work experience beyond the minimum requirement may be accepted in lieu of degree. At least five years of related technical experience, including five years of supervisory experience, is required. CDL preferred or readily to obtain.
