Job Summary:
The purpose of this job is to supervise persons serving misdemeanor probation sentences. Work includes but is not limited to monitoring all aspects of a probationer’s compliance with reporting, payment of fines and fees, completion of community service work, and completion of required courses, treatment programs and other conditions of probation. Prepare and present cases in court on revocation hearings and assist with administrative functions as needed. Senior Probation Officers have the additional duties of training/assisting probation officers, reviewing case preparation for court, conducting monthly audits of files, and ensuring adequate coverage for court.
Job Requirements:
Applicant must possess an Associate degree in Criminal Justice, or minimum of two years of Criminal Justice or Political Science at a four-year college; Or four years of certified law enforcement, investigation, or probation supervision experience. Applicant must become P.O.S.T. certified within one year of employment, including satisfactory results on any required psychological and/or physical fitness testing. Applicant must1 meet current standards set forth in the GCIC/NCIC requirements for inquiry within one year of date of hire. Applicant must also possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and must pass a background check and drug screening as required by Dawson County Government.
