The Hogansville Police Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced K9 Narcotics Police Corporal to join our team. This position plays a critical role in enforcing narcotics laws, conducting searches, and supporting law enforcement operations using single-purpose narcotics detection canines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a certified law enforcement officer in the State of Georgia.

• Minimum four (4) years of law enforcement experience.

• Minimum two (2) years of certified K9 handler experience.

• Experience working with single-purpose narcotics detection dogs.

• Knowledge of and compliance with O.C.G.A. laws governing canine operations.

• Strong understanding of canine training, deployment, and handling in accordance with state and federal laws.

• Ability to maintain training records, document deployments, and work effectively with the department’s K9 program.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deploy and handle a department-assigned single-purpose narcotics detection canine.

• Conduct searches of vehicles, buildings, and open areas to detect and locate narcotics.

• Assist in narcotics investigations and collaborate with other law enforcement agencies.

• Maintain canine care, training, and performance to ensure operational readiness.

• Ensure all operations adhere to applicable O.C.G.A. laws and legal standards governing K9 use.

• Provide K9 demonstrations and community engagement as needed.

• Maintain accurate reports and documentation of K9 deployments and training.

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and physical examination.

• Must maintain all necessary certifications and training requirements for both law enforcement and K9 operations.

• Must be willing to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
