The City of Fort Valley is seeking a qualified professional for the position of Finance Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial operations, budgeting, and fiscal management for the City of Fort Valley’s $10.3 million budget. The Finance Director will also oversee payroll administration and the management of property tax functions, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions. This position also ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding the city’s financial operations and advises the City Council, City Administrator, and department heads on financial matters.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience with a range of $65,000 - $75,000. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance along with a retirement plan.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required; a master’s degree in these or related fields is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance is required, including experience managing payroll and property tax functions. A successful candidate will have an equivalent combination of education and experience to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the city government and its finances.
