The City of Johns Creek seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Planner II to join our Community Development Department. This professional role involves delivering essential planning services, ensuring compliance with state and local ordinances, and fostering community development. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders, review applications, and prepare insightful reports and presentations for diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

•Guide customers on planning and zoning inquiries.

•Conduct pre-application meetings with applicants, developers, design professionals and property owners

•Prepare detailed public hearing reports and meeting packets and present staff recommendations to the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission as requested.

•Process zoning and building-related permits, as well as zoning certifications.

•Review and approve development, building, and sign applications for compliance.

•Investigate zoning code compliance, issue violation notices, and represent cases in court.

•Conduct research and site visits and produce analytical reports for boards, commissions, and officials.

•Coordinate with developers, property owners, and other stakeholders.

•Participate in public meetings and assist with mid and long-range planning initiatives.

•Draft amendments to zoning ordinances, the Comprehensive Plan, and Development Regulations.

•Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.

•Three years of professional experience in planning and zoning (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).

•Valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Expertise in urban planning principles, comprehensive land use planning, zoning, and development regulations.

•Proficiency in urban design/planning software such as InDesign, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Suite.

•Strong oral and written communication skills.

•Ability to analyze and interpret data, laws, and planning ordinances.

•Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

•Capacity to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
