The Pike County Sheriff's Office is hiring for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Georgia P.O.S.T. certification is required. Deputy Sheriff's are responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws as applicable. Patrols designated areas to detect and deter criminal activity. Apprehends , arrests and processes criminals, fugitives and offenders. Responds to calls relayed by dispatchers, including alarms, domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, or other calls for assistance. Conducts preliminary investigations; interviews victims, complainants, and witnesses. Obtains statements, evidence, photographs, and secures crime scenes. Participates in court activities , such as testifying and presenting evidence. Serves criminal arrest warrants, both felony and misdemeanor, and civil papers assigned by courts. Transports prisoners, victims, witnesses, members of the general public, suspects, or other individuals as required. Investigates motor vehicle traffic accidents. Provide courtroom security; maintain a safe working environment within the court system. Communicate effectively over law enforcement radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications. Prepares reports , and other documents, associated with the daily responsibilities of this position. Attend required training and maintain P.O.S.T. certification. Applicants must pass a psychological examination and drug screening. Valid Drivers license and ability to pass a criminal history inquiry is required. E.O.E.
