The County Commission is seeking a dedicated and experienced County Administrator to oversee county operations, manage budgets, and lead multiple departments toward efficiency and excellence. This position is responsible for preparing and managing the county’s annual budget, supervising department heads, and ensuring the smooth and effective operation of county offices. Additionally, the County Administrator inspects county-owned buildings upon request and coordinates routine and major maintenance as needed. Regular communication with the Board of Commissioners is essential, as the Administrator must provide updates on the County’s fiscal status and operational priorities.

Washington County, strategically located midway between Augusta and Macon, as well as between Atlanta and Savannah, offers unique access to these four major metropolitan areas in Georgia. The county is also less than 40 miles from both Interstate 16 and Interstate 20, making it an ideal hub for travel and commerce.

 The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage financial statements, as well as expertise in human resources functions such as hiring, discipline, and personnel management. This role requires excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and strong written and verbal communication abilities. The Administrator must be adaptable to evolving state and local regulations, capable of independent judgment, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.

A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required, while a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should also have at least five years of experience in city or county management. The hiring range for this position is from $115,000 to $150,000.
