The City of Johns Creek is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Information Technology Systems (ITS) team and help shape the future of our city's traffic network technologies.
What You'll Do:
As our Network Engineer, you'll be key in designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing complex traffic network systems. You'll:
•Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, LANs, WANs, VLANs, routers, switches, and wireless access points.
•Lead the design and deployment of network topologies and infrastructure upgrades.
•Ensure data protection through disaster recovery planning, system backups, and proactive network security.
•Document current and future integration efforts, and create detailed network diagrams and reports.
•Monitor network performance and implement changes to optimize speed and reliability.
•Provide on-call support for urgent traffic-related network issues.
•Perform firmware upgrades and preventive maintenance.
•Communicate with vendors and technical support teams.
•Coordinate equipment inventory and project timelines.
•Be available for emergency response on an on-call basis.
Essential Skills & Expertise:
•Deep knowledge of networking devices, protocols, and configurations.
•Proficiency in managing security systems and communication networks (Wi-Fi, cellular, 5G, fiber).
•Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field.
•3+ years of experience with network design, security systems, and communications networks.
•CCNA certification.

•Valid State of Georgia driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Project management experience is a plus.
•Additional certifications or equivalent experience will be considered.
