SEASONAL GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER

GENERAL NATURE OF WORK
This is responsible work in the care, maintenance, and improvement of city park areas, city facilities, farmers market and
downtown area. Work involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to the park grounds. Assignments are carried out in accordance with departmental policies and are performed under close supervision.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
The following examples are to illustrative of the duties assigned to positions of this class. No attempt is made to be
exhaustive in this listing.
*Cuts grass, rakes and cares for grounds; trims grass and shrubbery.
*Clean and maintain supplies for downtown restrooms.
*Responsible for the collection of garbage and maintenance of the downtown city trash receptacles.
*Plants grass, trees and shrubs; waters lawns, flowers and shrubbery.
*Performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT
Knowledge of grounds care and maintenance.
Skill in the use and care of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
Able physically to work long hours of outdoor physical labor.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the general public.
Ability to work weekends when required, due to events, etc.
