Greene County, Georgia is seeking an experienced professional for the position of County Manager. The position reports to and serves at the pleasure of the Greene County Board of Commissioners, a five-member board with four members elected by district and the Chairman elected at-large. The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the County, including the supervision of personnel, strategic planning, development and management of budgets, and management of capital improvements. The role requires a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and requires extensive knowledge of local government operations, general government finances, and complex funding mechanisms.

Major job duties include administering county laws, ordinances, and resolutions; preparing annual budget; regulating purchases of county supplies and materials; supervising county employees; supervising performance of contracts; serving as liaison to the public, elected officials, and other entities; attending meetings for Board of Commissioners; negotiating leases and contracts; coordinating fire services throughout the county; and planning for future growth and development.

The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Finance or similar field with at least 5 years of supervisory experience. Previous City or County Manager experience is preferred. In lieu of a college degree, candidates with a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience as a manager in local government may be considered.
