Are you an experienced and passionate fire service leader with a strong background in training, emergency operations, and team development? The City of Johns Creek is looking for a dynamic Fire Captain of Training & Preparedness to lead and manage critical training programs, develop departmental readiness, and oversee emergency and non-emergency operations during assigned shifts.
What You'll Do:
As the Fire Captain of Training & Preparedness, you will:
•Supervise, mentor, and evaluate fire personnel.
•Coordinate, manage, and lead departmental training initiatives.
•Oversee emergency scene operations and ensure proper tactics and procedures.
•Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
•Manage online training platforms, certification tracking, and incident reporting systems.
•Serve as the department liaison to regulatory bodies, including GFSTC, GPSTC, and OJC.
•Ensure preparedness through inventory management, Swiftwater gear oversight, and Blue Card training implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead personnel during emergency and non-emergency shifts.
•Ensure continual training and certification for all department members.
•Monitor communications and direct resources effectively during incidents.
•Plan and implement departmental drills, programs, and continuing education.
•Maintain accurate records and utilize software systems for training and incident tracking.
•Participate in public education and departmental outreach efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•10+ years as a certified firefighter in a professional paid department.
•Georgia Firefighter Certification & NPQ Firefighter II.
•State of Georgia EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, or Paramedic certification.
•CPR Certification.
•NPQ Instructor I & II, Fire Officer I & II certifications.
•Live Fire Instructor Certification (State of Georgia or equivalent).
•Completion of NIMS courses: ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, IS-800.
•Valid Georgia Driver's License.
What You Bring:
•Extensive knowledge of firefighting, emergency medical services, and hazmat operations.
•Leadership experience and strong supervisory skills.
•Ability to manage multiple platforms and systems (RMS, online training, inventory).
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Proven ability to train, develop, and motivate personnel.
