The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Police Administrative Technician in the Police Department.  This position is responsible for answering and directing incoming telephone calls, monitoring radio communications, data entry/retrieval in Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and internal computer systems, providing information to the public, receiving bond and fine payments and maintaining required files.  The position requires working a rotating, 12-hour shift, from (6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and (6:00 p.m.-06:00 a.m.)

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Answers telephone and directs calls, takes messages, provides information to citizens on a variety of subjects.
  • Provides information and assistance to walk-in customers.
  • Enters dispatch records into the in-house computer system.
  • Accepts bond and fine payments including accepting credit cards, etc.
  • Enters wanted persons, vehicles, articles, etc. into the GCIC/NCIC computer systems.
  • Runs computer checks of pawned property, Criminal Histories, and Driver Histories on GCIC/NCIC computer systems.
  • Records information for House Checks and enters them into the in-house computer system and prepares House Check Sheets for the oncoming shift.
  • Monitors radio traffic for officer’s status, communicates with officers by radio, runs computer checks through the in-house system and checks for warrants in files.
  • Makes file folders and files and retrieves folders from file cabinets.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and one to two years’ experience.  Successful candidate must meet current GCIC/NCIC requirements for certification as an Entry Level Terminal Operator.  Applicants will be required to take a clerical skills test.
