JOB SUMMARY:

 

Provides clerical assistance in all matters involving voter registration or elections to include taking voter registrations; identifying and assigning voting districts, precincts and wards; preparing ballots; assisting with all County, Federal and State elections; assisting with all phases of absentee and early voting; assisting with counting and consolidating all election returns.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assists with the following: identifying and designating appropriate and predefined voting districts, precincts and wards; locating voter precinct sites, identifying all voters affected by changes, and records changes in voter addresses; updating address changes and mailing registration cards.

 

Registers citizens to vote; notifies the Sr. Registration Specialist of ineligible voters; inputs voter information and election history into computer; reviews vital statistics records and felony convictions to update eligible elector lists.

 

Assists in preparing for and conducting elections for eight municipalities and Hall County; orders election supplies, assists with logic and accuracy testing on ballot marking devices, poll pads, scanners, printers, and tabulators, may assist in training poll workers and scheduling training.

 

Assists in counting and consolidating election returns; separates election forms and submits to government offices; posts election totals outside office after each election.

 

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

Notary Public.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of local, State and Federal laws related to voter registration and elections.

Knowledge of administrative methods and techniques used in election and voter registration activities.

Knowledge of modem office practices, procedures, equipment and standard clerical techniques.

Skill in typing and operation of computer keyboard in order to enter and retrieve data.

Ability to read maps and interpret precincts, districts and wards.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with voting officials and the public.

Physical Ability: Essential functions of this position continuously require the ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing); operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copier, and printer. Incumbents must continuously be able to think analytically; handle stress and emotion, concentrate on tasks, remember names and other details; examine and observe details; make decisions, and adjust to change. Incumbents must also continuously direct others; meet deadlines; stay organized; use math/calculations and use a keyboard/type.

 

Essential Functions frequently require the ability to move about inside the office; and move/transport items up to 10lbs.

 

Essential functions occasionally require the ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs, and twisting at the waist, hips or knees; reach overhead; push or pull; and repetitively use hands/arms/legs. Incumbents in this position are occasionally required to be on-call and work irregular hours.

 

Sensory Requirements:  Essential functions regularly require the ability to use effective verbal and written communication; and use of hand/eye coordination and fine manipulation to use equipment.

 

Environmental Factors: Essential functions of this position continuously require the ability to either work with others or work alone.
