The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Payroll Specialist Supervisor  within the Fulton County Board of Health in the  Finance Division.  

Job Responsibilities

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Manages payroll operations and related transactions for a large unit, agency, government entities or programs. Administers and interprets policies and government regulations and advises management on law changes or proposed legislation affecting payroll processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and plans work for assigned staff
  • Analyzes payroll data or statistics and produces reports, financial trending data or projections, or advanced-level analysis
  • Assists in the development and revision of payroll policies and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Directs the work of staff in a centralized payroll unit
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, and develops, modifies or regulates policies and procedures
  • Interprets organizational policy and government regulations related to payroll procedures
  • Maintains payroll records, and provides information based on regulations and confidentiality requirements
  • Manages payroll transactions and related transmittal, accounting, documentation, records, and technical service
  • Prepares and/or analyzes periodic reports and reconciles contents with agency records
  • Provides on-the-job training for assigned staff

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a business related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of accounting or payroll related experience OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of payroll or accounting related experience OR Six years of payroll or accounting related experience AND One year of experience as a supervisor over payroll functions OR One year of experience required at the lower level Payroll Spec 3 (FIP042) or position equivalent.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
