Listing Summary

The Polk County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Director for the Polk County Public Works Department.

Summary of Positon

The position of Public Works Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of the Public Works Department.  This position also oversees the general operations of the Solid Waste Department. This position reports directly to the County Manager and has supervisory responsibility over personnel of the Public Works and Solid Waste Departments.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in a course of study related to the Public Works field and a minimum of five years of related work experience.  A combination of education, experience, and training which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of this position will also be considered. 

Work Schedule

The position is a full time exempt position.  The work schedule is comprised of a minimum of forty hours per week.  Attendance at meetings, work sessions, weekends and evening work hours are required as needed.

Salary

The beginning salary range for this position is $64,224 - $68,155 per year.  Exact starting salary will be dependent upon prior experience.
