PARKS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Harris County, Georgia is accepting applications for a Parks Maintenance Technician for the new 125-acre Ellerslie Park. This full-time position, under the direction of the Parks & Recreation Director, performs ground maintenance activities including bush hogging, cutting trees, maintaining trails, mowing grass, spraying chemicals for weed control, cleaning restrooms and buildings, disposing of trash, maintaining the health of the 13-acre lake, and supervising the construction of pavilions, playgrounds, and other recreational amenities. This position works in an open environment subject to inclement weather, should be a self-starter, and will have a two-person prison inmate crew to assist in the park’s maintenance.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one to four years of experience and knowledge of grounds maintenance practices, skills in operating ground maintenance equipment such as mowers, skid steers, tractors, bushhogs, chainsaws, among other equipment, excellent customer service skills, and a valid Georgia driver’s license. Will have to attend a training session to learn how to properly transport and supervise prison inmates.
Starting rate of pay is $14.29 per hour plus generous benefits.
