The City of Americus is seeking two (2) qualified candidates to fill the positions of Meter Repair Technician. The beginning salary is $ 12.96/ hour ($26,881.00 annually)
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: performing various technical and mechanical work functions associated with the installation, repair and maintenance of water and gas meters and related equipment, testing the accuracy of meters to ensure compliance with established standards, maintaining records of meter readings, meter numbers, work performed and related activities, preparing, receiving, reading and/or completing various forms, correspondence, reports, work orders, maps, blueprints, manuals, or other documentation. This position also assists with the monthly cutoff list; performs cutoffs and turn-on's to both water and gas meters, communicates with supervisor, employees, city departments, customers, the public via telephone and/or two-way radio, responds to requests for service, operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, email, or other software, and may be required to be on-call in the event of an emergency, work weekends, holidays, special events and over-time.
Requirements include a High school diploma or GED required, supplemented by Vocational/Technical training in Mechanics, Meter Repair, or related field; supplemented by two (2) years previous experience or training involving maintenance, operation, installation, repair and/or testing of water and gas meters/automated meter reading equipment; Requirements may be any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License. Proof of requirements must be provided at time of applying.
