Planning & Development Specialist

The City of Rincon is currently seeking a Full-Time Planning & Development Specialist. This position will report to the City Planner and its purpose is to ensure processing of Home and Commercial Business Licenses and planning and development land use and permitting applications.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensures that all records are maintained in compliance with the Secretary of State records retention schedule
  • Maintains, processes, and collect fees associated with Occupational Tax Certificates
  • Coordinates with the City Planner and other agencies to ensure the City of Rincon is represented in regional planning activities
  • Reviews basic permitting applications for compliance and completeness
  • Conducts related site visits/inspections as needed to perform functions of the position
  • Assists with Code Enforcement functions.
  • Coordinates and processes requests for information from outside agencies and developers
  • Assists with grant applications and administration as needed
  • Prepares and completes various reports, correspondence, and other documents
  • Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies the accuracy of entered data and makes correction; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, and other software programs
  • Communicates with supervisor, coworkers, other departments, the public and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange or obtain information, or resolve problems
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as requested or required

Experience:

Four years previous experience in general office operations, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

Associate’s Degree related to Planning and Zoning, Building Construction, Accounting, or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree and Two years of planning and development experience preferred.

The City of Rincon requires that the viable applicant have a valid driver’s license and must pass a background and drug screen test.
