The City of Duluth, Georgia (population of 30,000) is accepting applications for the position of full-time Accounting-Human Resources Technician.

This position is a mixture of Accounting and Payroll/Human Resources duties. This position is responsible for assisting with the general accounting and financial activities of the City involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, office supply purchasing for the administrative offices, purchase orders, maintenance and electronic scanning of records, and other financial activities.

The payroll function involves the preparation, processing, and production of the bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for all city employees on a rotating basis with the Payroll & Benefits Specialist. Additionally, this position provides assistance to employees pertaining to payroll and benefits, maintenance of personnel records, and reconciling and preparing insurance premium invoices for payment.

This work requires multitasking with accuracy and efficiency with a great attention to detail; requires work to be completed within designated timeframes and in accordance with established procedures; and involves interaction with co-workers, department heads/supervisors, vendors, and the general public.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or state-issued GED supplemented by training from a recognized institution in accounting, payroll, and general office practices, or closely related areas. A college degree or diploma from an accredited college or university is preferred. Two (2) years work experience in accounting and/or payroll duties is required.
