MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Addresses those who may have mental health issues that enter the Muscogee County Jail and those who deputies of the MCSO dispatch for mental health service calls and referrals. Participates and daily huddles to assess needs and coordinate services. Assess and evaluate mental status of those within the Muscogee County Jail. Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners. Completes required documentation and paperwork including biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning and implementation in a timely manner. Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to inmates. Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy of the agency. Maintains weekly scheduled appointments in our electronic records systems. Provide therapeutic services to inmates. Maintain a caseload of 15 to 20 patients weekly, and a minimum of 5 patients a day. Provide evidence-based recommendations to medical and MCSO staff as it relates to the mental wellbeing of those encountered to better serve them. Write and Assign 1013s. Attend staff meetings and supervision with sheriff as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of diagnostic impressions or criteria. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Working knowledge of Clinic policies and procedures. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) from the Georgia Board of Behavioral Sciences or any recognized states for the same. Experience supervising unlicensed staff. Knowledge and experience with evidence-based practices, including trauma-informed care framework. Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring populations (chronic health conditions, mental health, and substance use) with emphasis on adults and veterans. Strong clerical/administrative skills including personal computer skills (Microsoft Office software). Ability to make routine decisions and determine proper action based on experience within the limits of policy and procedures. Demonstrates oral and written skills in English. Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent and sensitive manner. Skill in operating standard office equipment including work-related computer applications.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Possess an active license from the state of Georgia. Possession of master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited university. LCSW or LMFT in good standing in the State of Georgia with a minimum of two years post-licensure. Ability to pass a background check. Valid Georgia State Driver’s License. TB Clearance. Flexibility to work holidays and weekends. Local travel required.
The work is typically performed while standing or walking for long periods of time. The employee must lift 25 pounds or more, reach with arms and hands, and be able to stoop, kneel or crouch. The work is performed in a medical clinic. The employee may be exposed to noise, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. The employee is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. In addition, the employee may travel via personal vehicle or public transportation throughout the community.
